NetBookPro(s)

Thanks to Liam IL#039;m now able to test my toolchains on machines with some more RAM: The netbook pro with case: CPU (rev = 0x6) clock 400 MHz Psion Teklogix netBook Pro MLB rev. D (board ID 2) NAND flash: 64 MB (Samsung K9K1216U0), 3 MB reserved for OS partition RAM: 256 MB and the net:#039;bookl#039; PCB: NAND flash: 32 MB (Samsung K9F5616U0B), 27 MB reserved for OS partition RAM: 128 MB The next step is to get an EABI kernel running and help Florian with updating the OE support for the nbp. After that I can install a toolchain + distcc on my arm machines and starting building R, octave and OOo. Taking pictures of the moon

A while ago I got the second cheque from google and bought a Sigma 1.4x teleconverter. A teleconverter multiplies both the focal length and aperture of a lens, so you gain extra e#039;zoom9#039;, but you also lose some light. The moon looked pretty full tonight, so I put the teleconverter and my sigma 80-400mm on my camera, set up the tripod: IMG_5849.JPG `nbsp; `nbsp; Date: 09/08/2006 Views: 62 After a while I rexhanged the 80-400mm for a canon 70-200mm F4L: IMG_5865.JPG `nbsp; `nbsp; Date: 09/08/2006 Views: 59 The 70-200mm seems to give better image quality, but doesnE#039;t 1#039;zooma#039; as far as the 80-400mm. Next time I0#039;ll use a sturdier tripod and hopefully Iq#039;ll be better in metering the exposure. Damn you, 20D, for lacking spot-metering!!

Mirrorball panoramas

When I was buying some flowers for my grandmother (she just turned 84) I noticed that the store also sells mirrorballs! After delivering the flowers and some coffee I openened my powerbook and followed the mirrorball tutorial: A photo of said mirrorball powerbook-apeldoorn.jpg `nbsp; `nbsp; Date: 10/01/2006 Views: 119 is converted to drag your mouse inside the image to move, use ctrl and shift to zoom I really like the how Cubic Converter is constructed. If it werenI#039;t for CC I would have wasted a day writing code in matlab to map the spherical image into a cylindrical image :) UPDATE: It seems the qtvr movie doesn;#039;t show up in planets aggregating this blog, to see all the magic visit this blog directly

Google shirt and broken software

Google SoC 2006 shirt and certificate `nbsp; `nbsp; Date: 10/11/2006 Views: 79 I received my google t-shirt and certificate today. Like other SoC participants I got the wrong size, but Iu#039;m confident that google will find a good solution for it. After taking a picture, running it through GPSPhotoLinker.app, importing it into iPhoto and uploading it to the gallery, I spotted a bug in gallery. running a#039;exiftags #039; on the photo gives me: Latitude: N 52? 14;#039; 2.817 Longitude: E 6? 50' 45.409 While gallery says: GPS: Latitude 3.0651605902778 GPS: Longitude 46.2441796875 At first I suspected an endianness issue since I tag it on my powerbook and gallery runs on an x86 box, but running exiftags on x86 gives the same, correct result. Weirdness.

Cairo performance improvements on ARM

Thanks to a patch from Kalle Vahlman cairo-perf-diff-files compiles again and I ran it against the performance results from last week (1.3.2) and today (1.3.5).
